Where Winds Meet Complete Guide to Healer Profession
Healing in Where Winds Meet is quite unique in that it is a profession and not just a class. WWM treats healing with the same reverence it gives to swordplay, politics, and exploration. Healing in this game takes its cue from Traditional Chinese Medicine and wuxia storytelling. If you’re unsure of where to start and how to heal, this guide will help get you straight.
The Healer Profession
The Healer profession is one of the two open professions in-game so far. It is open to all players once you reach level 13. It takes patience to advance your healing skills in WWM.
There are two types of healing in Where Winds Meet: healing illnesses and broken bones, and healing damage from combat. You can self-heal damage from combat, but you cannot self-heal illnesses and broken bones. For illnesses and broken bones, you need to find another player, who is a physician, who has the capability to heal your illness.
Each illness requires a specific healing mastery level in order to cure it. The higher the player’s healing mastery, the more illness they can cure—and the illnesses do get tougher the higher they are.
Healers upgrade mastery two ways:
Career Notebook. You earn Career Notebooks from exploration puzzles, events, and entertainment. You can also buy Career Notebooks in the Season Shop every Sunday.
Upgrade your prescriptions. You can upgrade your prescriptions by purchasing a Healer Chest from the Seasonal Shop. The more powerful your prescriptions, the higher your mastery.
How to Heal Illnesses: The Card Game
So, what are prescriptions in Where Winds Meet and how do you unlock them? Prescriptions are medicines and techniques to cure an illness. But instead of being in potion or pill form, they are in the form of cards.
Use Wind Vision to detect illness. Then you can click on Diagnose. The names of several illnesses will come up on the screen and the illness the player has will stay. If the player has more than one illness, they will all be highlighted. I your healing mastery exceeds the illness mastery you can provide quick treatment. If not, you will have to go into full treatment: the card game.
There are two schools of treatment: Physiotherapy and Qi Therapy. Physiotherapy treats most illnesses we encounter early in the game related to physical ailments like bone injuries and diseases. When you go to heal a patient, you will see the recommended school of treatment deck for the ailment.
Each card is a prescription or treatment with its own ability. The prescriptions cards include remedies as well as protection for you against the illness fighting back.
Silver Needle Sect
Silver Needle Sect ranking screen
The sect most compatible with the healing profession is Silver Needle Sect. Though you don’t have to join this sect in order to be in the healing profession, it has its benefits. Silver Needle Sect’s motto is “One life, One price.” They demand payment for each heal and that payment can be in any form, money, emote, or likes—as long as there’s payment. However, the sect prefers payment in Likes, as it ranks its members based on the amount of Likes for heals they get. And the higher your rank, the more reputation you earn from healing.
Like in ancient China, healing is a highly competitive profession with the ultimate goal becoming a Divine Healer and joining the council of healers. There are five ranks in Silver Needle Sect: Keeper, Physician, Chief Physician, Medical Scholar, Divine Healer. Each week, Chief Physicians will vote for Medical Scholars to become a Divine Healer and the rankings reset every Sunday, giving players a fresh start.

How to Increase Healing Mastery
To heal illnesses successfully, you have to have a healing mastery of that illness’s level or higher. To level up your healing mastery, you will need to acquire with Career Notebooks from quests and shops. After collecting the required amount of Career Notebooks, you can upgrade your healing mastery. You can also upgrade individual Prescriptions using materials from giftboxes or shops, which also increases your healing mastery.
The healing profession is quite competitive, but it is fun. If you are already a healer and in the Silver Needle Sect and feel like it’s too much, don’t worry. You don’t have to strive to be a Divine Healer. Personally, I coast along as a Chief Physician because I prefer to enjoy the game and not have it feel like a second job.
