Dutch indie studio Abbey Games and publisher Firesquid are expanding their strategic god-game sequel Reus 2 with the new Ice Age DLC, now available on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series. The update introduces a frozen biome, bringing new challenges, resources, and opportunities for players to shape human civilizations in chilly conditions.
Originally released on May 28, 2024, Reus 2 continues the cozy, turn-based god-game approach of the original Reus while giving players more freedom to nurture—or punish—human societies as they grow. Unlike its faster-paced predecessor, the sequel leans into a more relaxed, cozy, and contemplative experience, letting players focus on building ecosystems, experimenting with flora and fauna, and observing humanity evolve.
During my time in this gorgeous world controlling the elemental giants felt satisfying, once I got the hang of it. I could experiment with combinations of plants and animals to see how human civilizations respond. Sometimes they flourish peacefully, other times they spiral into chaos. Fans of strategic, methodical gameplay will lose hours tweaking and optimizing their worlds. The Ice Age DLC adds a crisp new layer to this, letting players test their ecological creativity under icy conditions.
