StoneHold Brings a Fresh Spin to MOBA Battles

A New Chapter for Arena Strategy Games

Little Orbit Inc. has officially announced StoneHold, a bold new free to play MOBA that blends the intensity of action combat with the tactical depth of deckbuilding. The studio revealed the game alongside a thrilling trailer, offering fans their first look at this genre-bending experience built in Unreal Engine 5.

StoneHold puts players in command of stone-forged heroes known as Wardens. From powerful Barbarians to cunning Rogues, every Warden enters the 5v5 arena with a mix of physical skills and magical abilities fueled by cards drawn mid-battle. The result is an experience where fast reflexes meet strategic foresight in every 20-minute match.

Where Combat Meets Card Strategy

Unlike traditional MOBAs, StoneHold adds a fresh layer of strategy through collectible skill decks. Players build 30-card loadouts unique to each Warden and can draw new abilities by destroying enemy turrets or leveling up. The ability to swap out cards mid-match adds an unpredictable twist, forcing players to adapt their playstyle on the fly.

According to Little Orbit CEO Matthew Scott, the studio wanted a battleground that rewards both quick thinking and careful planning. “We wanted a place where your movement and aim matter just as much as your strategy,” he said. “Every deck tells a story, and every match should feel like its own duel of minds.”

Fast-Paced Matches Built for Everyone

StoneHold’s design focuses on short, intense matches that appeal to both seasoned MOBA players and newcomers. Each 20-minute battle features over-the-shoulder, third-person combat reminiscent of SMITE, but with a dynamic twist thanks to the card-based system. Players can chain abilities together, dodge incoming attacks, and reposition strategically while keeping an eye on their next card draw.

Progression in StoneHold favors variety over raw power. Winning matches and completing events earn players rewards they can use to craft or upgrade cards. Duplicate cards can be salvaged into Shards, which strengthen existing abilities while maintaining balance through mana and cooldown trade-offs.

A Living Fantasy World Forged in Stone

Visually, StoneHold stands out with a “chiseled” art style that brings its fantasy world to life. Each Warden draws inspiration from classic RPG archetypes, creating a roster that feels familiar yet fresh. From rugged stone arenas to magical landscapes, every battlefield looks carved by hand and charged with energy.

Little Orbit has also committed to keeping the game’s meta lively through seasonal updates, new Wardens, balance changes, and special events. This approach promises an ever-evolving competitive scene designed to keep both casual and hardcore fans engaged.

Building Toward Launch

StoneHold will launch first on PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GamersFirst.com, with Xbox and PlayStation versions planned for a later date. Players can wishlist the game now and be among the first to enter the arena when it launches.

For those looking to join early, Little Orbit plans to announce details soon for the StoneHold Founder’s Pack bundle, which will include exclusive in-game rewards. Fans can stay connected through the official StoneHold Discord and follow updates on X, Facebook, and Instagram.

StoneHold is shaping up to be one of the best free to play MOBA titles to watch in 2025. Its blend of action and strategy gives players a new reason to return to the battlefield—this time, with a deck in hand and a plan in mind.
