How to Make Fast Money in House of Legacy Early On
When you load into the new Chinese city builder House of Legacy, your first challenge is simple: restore your clan to become reputable. But here’s the thing: almost everything in House of Legacy costs money: food, building your estate, paying for exams to help your career, and especially gifts to gain influence and build relationships with powerful clans. To put it simply, you need a steady income stream from the start, and, unfortunately, you do not have any coins or gold when you start.
How to Make Fast Money in House of Legacy Early On
Your first hours in House of Legacy set the tone for your entire playthrough. When creating your character, you can choose 1-3 Character Traits. Though Merchant may sound like a path to easy money, you’ll be better off choosing the Scholarly character trait and building up your writing skills or Masterful to start out with high Might.
When your game begins one of your first tasks is to write letters and legal documents for civilians who cannot write. You will see civilians walking around with an envelope or sad face above their heads. Then, you will need to clean up your dilapidated estate, which will pay you 100 coins for each patch of weeds you clear in addition to finding books, jewelry, and more you can either sell or store in your warehouse.
Once you gain writing skills of at least 14+ you’ll be able to take on jobs to write plays, depending on the skill level requirement, which earn at least 350 coins each. If you’ve chosen the Scholarly Character Traits, then your writing skill will be at least 50 starting out.
Starting out with the Masterful Character Trait, you will have Might skill of at least 50 and will be able to catch thieves at the government building for 1000+ coins. Though this earns fast money in the meantime, you will only be able to gain notoriety through fighting wars, unless you make your character train and level up their writing skill, take the four official exams, and become an official.
Make Your Clan Members Work
You’ll also have displaced relatives coming to live with you. Anyone 18 and up can be assigned tasks and can perform jobs around town. Pay attention to their Skill and make them study accordingly. Clan members with Might can do escort missions which earn 300+ gold. With Might at 32 or higher, you can capture thieves for the government for 1000 or more coins. Having the Business skill allows you to take jobs at shops around town. However, they do not pay as much as writing plays or escorting for the bank. For extra coin, clan members can do hard labor jobs that do not require a skill for 50+ coins each.
When the Royal Court sends troops to war, you can send clan members to fight. If the war ends in victory, your clan members can receive a title and earn 2 ingots per month, which can be exchanged at the bank for coins. Tip: before sending your clan members to war, buy them a horse and a weapon. Having a horse increases the likelihood that they will come back from war safely should the Royal Court lose.
Shops Bring in the Most Money
You can build your own shop in town once you have the coin. The first shop is a General Store, and it costs 5000 coins to build. Your store will generate monthly income. Upgrade your store to increase profits. Next, you’ll unlock the Grocery Store, then the Cosmetic Store. Upgrade and let the money roll in.
Farming for Steady Profits
One of the quests you will have early on is to buy a farm. Not only do farms provide grain, vegetables, and meat for your clan, but you can also sell your produce for a sizeable amount each month. You can buy multiple farms. This comes in handy for supplying your army and still providing for your clan.
Tips for Making and Saving Money in House of Legacy
Making money in House of Legacy is pretty straightforward. However, you can run into problems saving and keeping steady money if you don’t plan strategically. For the most part, I recommend following the quests given on the left side of the screen. However, there are a few things I’d recommend doing (or not).
Choose the Scholar Character Trait for your character so you can take on play writing jobs and advance your political career easily.
Choose the Masterful Character Trait to complete high-paying jobs like escorting for the Exchange or Bank and focus your other clan members on writing to advance their political careers.
Don’t hire a retainer until you have multiple streams of income. Though retainers take on jobs for you, you still have to pay them and each retainer’s pay is different. The higher their skill, the higher their pay.
For female clan members, have their spouse marry into the clan so that you can have more people making money and doing tasks. That is, until your financial situation improves to your liking.
Buy one shop then upgrade it. You don’t have to hire the max number of workers for a store.
To recap, the best way to make money in House of Legacy early on is to focus on high-paying activities like writing plays and legal documents, catching thieves, and escort jobs. Open a shop to generate regular income monthly. Make your clan members take on jobs that are suited to their Skill and Trait. Oh, one more thing: stay away from illegal gambling dens. They could really put you in the hole.
