How to Complete Red Tape Blues - Starfield
The side missions in Starfield are so fun and allow you to take on different roles outside of being an explorer of space. For example, Ryujin allows you to be a corporate spy, undertaking espionage missions. And Deimos, well, Deimos is suffering from incompetent leadership. That’s where you come in to help work around some red tape. Here’s how to complete the “Red Tape Blues” mission.
Red Tape Blues – Deposit 10 Units of Iron
This part of the mission is fairly easy. You are given the task of helping with iron production. You will have to mine iron ore right there on the premises and deposit that ore into the container. Sometimes, the ore does not spawn. Quick fix: go to the Residential Area and buy ore from the bartender. Deposit the ore in the container and return to speak to Trevor. After you speak with Trevor, he convinces you to apply for the assistant to the director position. You will have to travel to the Deimos Staryard to apply at the kiosk.
Red Tape Blues - Apply for the Assistant to the Director Job
Once you get to Deimos Staryard, you will head directly to the kiosk, which is just beside the Self-Service Bounty Clearance kiosk and the Mission Board. To apply for the job, you will need to answer seven questions. Here are the answers to the job application questions for Red Tape Blues.
Question 1: How many years of experience do you have as an executive, administrative, or other corporate assistant?
5-10 years.
Question 2: What is the highest level of education you have completed?
Bachelor’s Degree.
Question 3: The Executive wants you to bring them a “whiskey, neat.” What does that mean?
About 43 ml shot of whiskey, served in a glass at room temp.
Question 4: A VIP arrives at the office for a meeting with the Executive, who is inexplicably running late. What should you do?
Offer drinks. Apologize, and assure that the exec will return soon.
Question 5: A malfunction prevents the Executive’s starship from starting up, and they need to go to an important offworld meeting soon. What course of action do you take?
Use the company credits to immediately charter an expensive luxury craft.
Question 6: While handling the Executive’s email, you come across a message from someone claiming to have damaging information about the Executive. What should you do?
Take the info to the board of directors so they can handle it.
Question 7: The Executive contacts you and asks you to see them in their office in the middle of the night. You can tell they are drunk. What do you do?
Contact security and let them deal with it.
Next, you will return to Cydonia on Mars to talk to Trevor. Trevor will let you know that you need to be the only candidate eligible to be selected for the job. Your next mission is to head to the Deimos HR office to delete the other applications in Deimos HR’s system. Depending on what time you get there, the HR rep may still be sitting at her desk. Go sit in an empty chair and wait until after 18:00 local time. Once everyone leaves, go to the computer, and delete the other candidates from the computer.
Go speak with Trevor again. Congratulations! You’ve been hired! Now be prepared for the adventure of being the assistant to probably the worst director in the Systems. Just ask his former assistant.
