Sword of Justice Review: A Stunning Wuxia MMO Experience

Sword of Justice

Platform(s): PC (Steam and Official Website), iOS, Android
Developer: ZhuRong Studio
Publisher: NetEase
Genre: Wuxia, MMORPG
Reviewer Rating: ★★★★★

Sword of Justice is a wuxia MMO that brings heart, style, and storytelling back to the MMOs.

When Sword of Justice finally launched worldwide on November 7, 2025, many players, like me felt like a long wait had ended. I had been searching for another MMO to fill the wuxia void that Swords of Legends Online had left. Playing SoJ for a few days now and I can already say that NetEase Games and ZhuRong Studio built an awe-inspiring world shaped by legend, martial honor, and emotional storytelling.

This may be one of the strongest Chinese games to reach a global audience in years. Sword of Justice does not ask you to pay for power, repeat endless chores, or tolerate shallow systems. Instead, you get bold storytelling, fluid martial arts combat, meaningful roleplay, and an entire island to call your own.

Wu’an Village

A Look at the World of Sword of Justice

Sword of Justice draws from the legendary story of the Four Constables, known for loyalty, justice, and supernatural strength. You begin as a rising martial artist pulled into a web of sect conflicts, corruption, political intrigue, and ancient magic. This setup gives you a strong reason to grow into your power rather than dropping you into the world without context.

The world is large and full of varied regions. Villages feel lived in. Towns have a steady hum of activity that you notice the moment you arrive. As you travel farther from busy areas, you hear wind, rivers, and birds in the distance. Sword of Justice wants you to feel part of the Jianghu in a grounded way.

The game launched in China in 2023 and reached a global audience on November 7, 2025. You can play on PC, iOS, and Android with full account sync, so you never lose progress when switching devices.

Fluid Classes with Skill and Style

Sword of Justice starts with six core schools or classes with unique combat mechanics and progression paths. Some of these schools are gender-locked.

Nightwalker
Similar to rogues in other MMOs, Nightwalker class is a swift assassin style fighter who uses daggers and blades.

Ironclad
With just his bare fists as weapons, Ironclad is the tank class. Male only.

Celestune
Celestune class is ranged, flexible DPS that uses a zither and sword combo attacks to cast fire, wind, and ice.

Bloodstrom
The only class that can fight while mounted, the Bloodstrom is a melee DPS class that uses a spear and can be very tanking.

Sylph
At present, Sylph is the only healer class, using silk ribbons. Female only.

Numina
A summoner class that kind of reminds of the Warlock in World of Warcraft. Numina summons Acolytes to fight by her side.

Sects That Shape Your Path

You can join one of several martial sects, and each one gives you a unique identity within the world. Each sect gives players two active skills, a minor trait, and an ultimate ability.

Instead of choosing a faction at character creation, you have to find sect representatives, some of whom hide in places you would never expect. You can leave any sect once you master its teachings and join another after a short wait.

Two additional sects have yet to appear in rumors. However, the known sects you can seek out include:

Yearning Sect

To join this, use the skill Wind-Kite on a player of the opposite sex and it will trigger the Encounter Quest “Butterfly Matchmaker.” Skills you get from Yearning Sect:

  • Active Skills: Yearning Swordplay, Embrace the Beauty

  • Minor Trait: Thread of Love

  • Ultimate: Swordstorm Blossoms

Skyrealm Sect

To join the Skyrealm Sect, go to Cizhou and talk to the Injured Deer in the Northeastern Hills of Azalea Valley. It will trigger the Encounter Quest Following the Deer. Skills you learn from Skyrealm Sect:

  • Active Skills: Sealed Tight, Tailplume Grasp

  • Minor Trait: Primal Unity

  • Ultimate: Taichi Seal

Mindful Sect

To join the Mindful Sect, you will need to go to Ambrosia Alley in the Entertainment District in Bianjing and talk to Storyteller. This will ttrigger the Encounter Quest “Clad with a Brocade Umbrella.” Skills you learn from Mindful Sect are:

  • Active Skills: Graceful Steps, Parasol Petals

  • Minor Trait: Mindful Wisdom

  • Ultimate: Soulgrasp Codex

Beggar Sect

To join the Beggar Sect, go to the Rainbow Bridge in Bianjing. Find the Old Beggar. Talk to him and he will trigger the Encounter Quest “Beggar Among Beggars.” Skills you learn from Beggar Sect are:

  • Active Skills: Dogstaff Jab, Dogstaff Trip

  • Minor Trait: Beasts Binding

  • Ultimate: Dogless World

Dragon Gate Inn Sect

  • Minor Trait: Dragon’s Leap (Good/Evil variant)

  • Ultimate: Peerless

Fair Monetization That Respects Player Time

Sword of Justice is free to play and does not allow players to buy strength. The team made a clear statement before launch that the game would not force grinding or pay to win. So far, this promise holds true. You can buy cosmetics, mounts, and items meant for convenience, but your strength in battle comes from skill and progression.

This approach gives you time to enjoy the many systems and stories without pressure.

The First Steps of Your Journey

When you create your character, you can use AI assisted tools to match your appearance or build a new look from scratch. Though the character creation system is extensive, it was the one area that disappointed me as they do not allow the creation of characters with darker skin tones. As a Black woman gamer, I’m used to it, but gaming has come so far, and this was just a reminder that we still have a ways to go.

Progression in the early game is steady and encourages you to move through the Four Constables storyline. You learn movement skills, martial abilities, and key features such as flight and mounted combat. From there, you take on dungeons, world bosses, puzzles, and player versus player content.

Sword of Justice already has an impressive map at release, with 14 large regions. However, players will spend most of their early days in bustling cities the of Bianjing, and Hangzhou and the charming small villages in Cizhou, and Peachspring Valley.

Storytelling That Brings Back Emotion

Sword of Justice is confident with its story. The writing team takes narrative seriously and gives you emotional beats you do not always see in MMOs. One standout example is the Unstained Morning Dew questline, which moves through hope, shock, fear, anger, and sadness.

At the end of each chapter, you can comment and read reactions from other players. Many players reported that the quest made them cry, which says a lot about the strength of the writing. It is rare to see that level of shared emotion in a game that updates regularly.

Professions

Professions in Sword and Justice are quite unique and easy to learn. From the usual suspects such as Cooking, Mining, and Gathering to Performance, Dancing, and Dressing, you can learn them all at once as they become available under Identity or one at a time. And those are not the only professions. You can also learn Relics, Alchemy, Crafting, Fishing, and Case Solving. After learning a profession, you can click on it to do a job to earn money and improve that skill.

Player Housing That Feels Like a True Reward

Sword of Justice gives you an entire island as your manor. It becomes available when you reach level 30 and complete the Roots of Tranquility questline. Unlike basic housing systems where you get a room or small plot, your manor is a vast environment.

You can purchase and craft furniture. You can raise animals on your farm and grow your garden. Host friends and guildmates, set up training areas and more. The housing system is large and calm, giving you a place to rest between quests and events.

Music and Sound That Support a Calm World

Music in Sword of Justice is gentle and atmospheric. Several players already use the soundtrack as background music while working. You can find instruments scattered across the world and play them. Towns and cities have distinct themes, and smaller details, such as random conversations in markets, help the world feel active.

A Game That Respects Your Curiosity

Sword of Justice gives you plenty to do without turning it into a burden. You have your main quests and optional quests, but you also run into quests through rumors and encounters. You may overhear a conversation on a bridge that leads to a hidden treasure or a secret story. This design supports curiosity instead of rigid task lists.

Sword of Justice belongs on any list of the best wuxia MMO games of 2025, not because it pushes technical limits, but because it respects the heart of wuxia storytelling.

Sword of Justice brings back something many players have missed. It treats martial arts fantasy with care. It respects your time. It gives you a world full of emotion, honor, and mystery. For anyone searching for a wuxia MMO with strong story, free to play access, and a fair system, this is one of the strongest options right now. It also shows the strength of upcoming MMORPG from China as more studios reach global audiences.

Download Sword of Justice on Steam, or from the official website for PC and mobile. Be on the lookout for Sword of Justice redeem codes. The first redeem code is HAPPYWEEK1 for 100 Ornate Jade (Bound) and 88,888 Banknotes, valid until December 28, 2025. It can be redeemed once per character. Yes, your alts can redeem this code, too!
