Reptilian Rising Releases On Steam and Nintendo Switch This April
Reptilian Rising, a new indie strategy title is preparing to invade Steam and Nintendo Switch later this month and it’s bringing time travel, historical heroes, and an army of genocidal reptilians with it.
Developed with a retrofuturistic tabletop-inspired aesthetic, Reptilian Rising is a turn-based strategy game that sends players across seven different time periods to stop an invasion led by The Ouroboros, a dangerous reptilian force threatening humanity throughout history. The game officially launches on April 23 for PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch.
A Time-Traveling Strategy RPG With Historical Heroes
In Reptilian Rising, players recruit legendary figures from across history to fight back against reptilian invaders and timeline-altering threats. Characters mentioned include:
Julius Caesar
Robin Hood
Albert Einstein
And yes, there are apparently dinosaur dictators involved too.
According to the game’s feature overview, players will battle bizarre enemies ranging from “talking dinosaurs” to “flesh-hungry lizardmen” while using time-manipulation abilities to gain the upper hand in combat.
Time Powers and Tactical Combat
The game’s combat system revolves heavily around time-based mechanics. Players can use “time energy” to:
Create clones of units
Summon reinforcements
Open time-gates across maps
Reposition heroes quickly during battles
The developers also confirmed replayable missions with bonus objectives, hidden secrets spread across different eras, and opportunities to revisit timelines without causing temporal paradoxes.
Retrofuturism Meets Tabletop Style
Visually, Reptilian Rising leans into a tabletop-inspired retrofuturistic aesthetic, blending stylized strategy combat with sci-fi absurdity. Between its time-travel mechanics, historical crossover roster, and dinosaur-heavy premise, the game appears to be aiming for a mix of tactical gameplay and campy humor. The official Reptilian Rising Steam page is currently live ahead of launch.
