The Queen of Junkertown is Coming to Overwatch 2

About three years ago, graphic designer, Chamachine created an incredible fan concept of Overwatch’s the Queen of Junkertown as a Developer Update. The concept art looked so good that Overwatch fans thought it was real, hoping to add The Queen to the game. And on June 12, 2022, the fans’ prayers were answered. Overwatch revealed the Junker Queen will be a playable character in the October 4 release of Overwatch 2. Here’s everything we know about the Queen of Junkertown so far.

Who is the Queen of Junkertown?

Junker Queen or The Queen rules Junkertown, a ruined Omnic factory in the Australian outback. Junker Queen used to be the champion in the Scrapyard, Junkertown’s arena. She’s a ruthless leader who’s been chasing after Junkrat after he rambled on about finding a secret treasure somewhere in Junkertown.

The Junkers of Junkertown have a serious disdain for Omnics. And this is especially true for The Queen. Like other Junkers, Junker Queen uses scraps of metal as part of her armor.

Contrast Between Chamachine’s Fan Concept vs Blizzard Reveal

In Overwatch, you can see posters of Junker Queen throughout Junkertown. So, we already had an idea of what she looked like. Chamachine drew his inspiration from these posters.

In Chamachine’s fan art, The Queen is wearing a cut-off, off-white shirt with “Junk” emblazoned in the center accentuated with a brown, leather corset. Her left should pad has white feathers with blue tips that match her blue mohawk hairstyle with a braid on the same side. She’s dual-wielding spiked axes. Her eyes have red war paint that matches her red, leather spiked should pad and cape. She looks tall and on the thin side, which is a stark contrast to Overwatch’s introduction.

In Overwatch’s teaser, Junker Queen is ripped! Her style is similar to Chamachine’s art with some slight detail differences. Instead of wielding dual axes, she has a long ax. And in the trailer, you can see her charging through the enemy group twirling her ax, a la Reinhardt style. You can see her using some type of magnetic weapon on her left wrist while holding a type of RPG shotgun in her right hand.

From the Overwatch 2 trailer, it looks as if Junker Queen will be another DPS hero or maybe a tank. As a former fighter and champion, this makes sense. But this is only speculation until Blizzard reveals more about her kit in their upcoming Reveal Event on June 16.

Overwatch 2 will be playable on all platforms: PC, Xbox One / Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4 / PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
