Once Human Version 1.4 Introduces Visional Wheel
Once Human’s latest update ,Version 1.4 dropped on January 15, introducing a range of new features, optimizations, and events including the Visional Wheel. Here’s everything you need to know about what’s changing and how it impacts your gameplay.
Visional Wheel: A New Reality-Shifting Mechanic
The Visional Wheel has made its debut, altering the fabric of reality across multiple dimensions. This phenomenon introduces unique Visional Scenarios, each with its own rules impacting Survival, Combat, and general gameplay. Visional Wheel will replace Scenario Hard Modes.
The Lunar Oracle
As night falls, a crimson moon casts its eerie glow, enhancing Deviant stats and triggering a new gameplay mechanic: falling Sanity. Your Sanity and therefore health will rapidly decrease when you are outside of your territory or camp. Deviants will spawn near your and you’ll need to defeat them to recover Sanity.
Update Schedule
January 16: Registration opens for all Visional Scenarios, and the Lunar Oracle mechanic becomes active.
February 13: A special Crimson Moon event begins, featuring exclusive skins.
March 13: New Lunar Oracle gameplay events.
Lunacy Mechanics
The Lunar Oracle Phase begins at 9PM and lasts until 3AM. When you step outside your territory during this phase, Lunacy steadily reduces your Sanity and your eyes glow bright red. Lunacy slows Sanity recovery, and the only way to recover sanity during the Crimson Moon is to defeat enemies. On the flip side, Lunacy grants a powerful resource acquisition buff, which strengthens as your HP drops.
How to Earn Lunar Whispers
When you defeat enemies and participate in events during the Lunar Oracle Descent you can collect Lunar Whispers. Lunar Whispers are time-sensitive rewards that you can use to open Oracle Crates that appear in settlements during the Lunar Oracle Phase. You need 50 Lunar Whispers to open a crate. Make sure to use your Lunar Whispers before they expire.
Death and Blessings
Should you fall during Lunar Oracle Descent, the Crimson Moon offers a blessing that temporarily shields you from Lunacy, preventing you from losing sanity and health. However, you’ll lose a portion of your Lunar Whispers based on your Sanity level at the time of death.
True Form Vision
Under the influence of Lunacy, you’ll gain the ability to perceive the world’s hidden layers. This ability reveals Oracle Crates within settlements and unveils more Deviated plants in the wilderness. Be cautious, as gathering resources outside your base carries the risk of Deviant ambushes.
New Weapons and Gear
Version 1.4 brings new gear and upgrades:
Critical Pulse (Crossbow): Power Surge weapon that fires a surge that generates ball lightning pulses, offering new tactical options in combat.
Overloaded Lightning Pants: Grants unlimited firepower after a set number of surge damage hits.
Seasonal Gear Updates: Updated gear enhancements and seasonal Cradle effects specifically for the Visional Wheel scenarios.
How to Survive Lunacy
Surviving in Once Human is fairly easy once you get the hang of its survival mechanics. However adding different survival elements like extreme climates and now Lunacy can present bigger challenges. However, just like normal mode, surviving is easy. When first leveling up, surviving Lunacy can be challenging as your sanity and health rapidly decrease to about 20% and one blow from an enemy can be lethal. Similar to the cold/heat mechanics of The Way of Winter scenario, there are consumables that can help survive Lunacy while out in the open.
Tips for Surviving Lunar Oracle Cycle
Remember to place your campsite when out on missions or exploring during Lunar Oracle Descent.
Stock up on Adrenaline Shots.
Keep Coneflower Fruit Tea and Corn Ale on you.
Optimizations and Improvements
Update 1.4 includes a host of optimizations and bug fixes, enhancing overall performance and stability. Here are a few new improvements included in Once Human in Update 1.4:
You can now teleport to your campsite (FINALLY), and it shares a cooldown with teleporting to your territory.
Now you can change your gender in the Floor Mirror using the Metamorphosis token.
Strangers can now send private messages to each other.
