How to Get a Mount in New World
With Amazon Gaming’s October 3rd release of the first DLC for New World, “Rise of the Angry Earth”, comes some modest changes. One of the best changes, however, is something fans have been begging for since its 2021 release – mounts.
Players have been puzzled by the lack of mounts in New World--an MMO that requires you to constantly adventure to different places. But, in-game, there’s lore for why there were no mounts on Aeternum when players first arrived at the mysterious island. The “Rise of the Angry Earth” opening scene, however, shows how man and beast unite against Aeternum’s foe, the Ancients.
Requirements to Unlock Mounts in New World
Mounts make adventuring in gaming so much easier. But there’s usually a requirement. Here are the requirements to unlock mounts in New World.
First, you need the “Rise of the Angry Earth” DLC. Once you have it, you must be at least level 25.
After you have the DLC and are at least level 25, go to Northen Everfall. You will see the new DLC quest symbol in the north, near the Brightwood border, on the map.
Reach the quest-giver, Jochi Khan, and accept the “My Kingdom for a Horse” quest. *don’t forget to read the note on the table near him*
After completing the quest, you will be rewarded with your brand-new mount.
How to Level Up Your Mount in New World
With the new mode of transportation comes great responsibility. Yes, along with your new mount, you need to continuously build a bond between yourself and your mount. You build bonds through special mount quests, feeding, and other things in order to level up your mount.
Though your mount’s speed is double your sprint speed, there are perks to leveling up your mount. When you level up your mount you get:
Increased mount speed for your mounts.
Mount buffs that enhance your mount’s movement.
Customizations for your mount.
Ability to create consumable food to feed your mount.
Different Types of Mounts in New World
At present, there are three types of mounts players can get in New World: Horse, Dire Wolf, and Lion mounts. Moonshadow, your Horse Mount is the first type of mount you get when you complete the quest to unlock mounts. You must be level 25.
To unlock the other mounts, you must meet the prerequisites by leveling your riding skills. You get the Dire Wolf Mount at level 45 by leveling up your horse mount. And to unlock the Lion Mount, you must be level 65 and have leveled up your horse and wolf mounts.
You can purchase additional mounts from the mount trader or the New World Store.
