EKSA Air Joy PLUS Gaming Headset Review

If you’re looking for an ultralight gaming headset but are on a tight budget, then check out EKSA Air Joy PLUS. A low price doesn’t always mean bad quality. In fact, the EKSA Air Joy Plus can compete with mid-range and some higher-priced wired gaming headphones.

There are a lot of companies jumping on the “low-budget gaming headset” production wagon. However, this affordable gaming headset is an entry-level product that has a lot to offer for online gaming. The Air Joy PLUS boasts an incredibly light frame with lux ear pads, making it great for long gaming sessions.

First Impression of the EKSA Air Joy PLUS Gaming Headset

When I first picked up the box, I definitely noticed the lightness. The Air Joy PLUS is definitely a stark contrast to the EKSA 910, which was pretty light itself. The Air Joy PLUS is also wired, while the 910 is wireless, but has wired capabilities.

The EKSA Air Joy PLUS looks good in all black with red accents. I can see this pairing well with the industrial-looking AOC AGK 700. The Air Joy PLUS has an extendable band that features three red stripes on both sides of the frame. Each ear cup features the EKSA trademark grated triangle that’s a breathable red light when plugged in.

The microphone is a flexible boom but not retractable. Though flexible, it always slowly moves to a downward position, making it harder for teammates to hear when speaking.

Sound Check

Speaking of speaking, when talking in Discord, my teammates said they could hear me loud and clear while my mic was near my mouth. Though the sound quality isn’t exactly crystal clear, it’s good enough, especially for this price range. But I slowly started to sound far away and then no sound.

The earcups have soft, somewhat breathable faux leather covers. The cups also rotate to lay flat, making transport easier. Unfortunately, these headphones are not collapsible or foldable.

Though not perfect, the 7.1 surround sound does take pretty good advantage of games with surround sound. Bass does fall short. And some in-game environmental sounds aren’t picked up. The environmental noise canceling is fair with the over-ear cups.

One thing I really loved about these gaming headphones is that they were not tight on my head. It didn’t feel as if they were squeezing out what’s left of my brain cells.

Conclusion

If you’re an audiophile or competitive gamer, I would check out other gaming headset options. However, The EKSA Air Joy PLUS is an affordable option for younger gamers and people on a budget.
