Arkane Studios’ Deathloop Pushed Back to 2021
Updated September 13, 2021
Like many films, shows, and tech projects, Deathloop, the breakout game featured during the Sony PS5 Future of Gaming reveal event, will be delayed due to Covid-19.
In a statement released by Arkane Studios, the Bethesda game is being delayed in order to put the “health and safety of everyone at Arkane Lyon” first, as they adjust their work from home structure.
They assured fans that they will use the additional time to ensure they a game with the quality that gamers have grown to love and expect from Arkane Studios.
This extra time will allow our team to bring Deathloop’s world to life with as much character and fun as you’ve come to expect from our team.
Deathloop is a shooter with an original concept: players are stuck in a time loop on a lawless, mysterious, island paradise. And before each death, they unlock a clue as to how to break the cycle. Play as Colt, an assassin trapped in the time loop, being hunted on the island. Or play as his rival assassin, Julianna who doesn’t want the fun of the death loop to end and she’ll do anything to stop Colt from escaping.
Though fans anticipating the game’s release this holiday season are disappointed that the game has been pushed back until Q2 2021, they’ve largely expressed support for Arkane and the devs.
“So, you're saying that it's gonna take longer to come out, but in return we're going to get a more polished product, AND your staff aren't going to be subjected to abusive work processes? And we just gotta wait a LITTLE longer? Hell yeah, you take as long as you need!”
