Box Knight Demo Launches From Aussie Studio Wemat Games
Aussie Studio Wemat Games Unleashes Box Knight Demo on Steam
Australian production company turned indie game developer Wemat Games is making its gaming debut with Box Knight, a quirky action-roguelike that casts office life as chaotic combat. The studio just released a Steam demo, giving players a taste of its absurd and punchy take on office heroics ahead of the full PC launch in Q2 2026.
The demo premiered alongside a new trailer at The MIX Indie Fan Fest, highlighting the game’s frantic beat’em up combat, cardboard-wielding protagonist, and over-the-top office fantasy. Players can participate in three solo runs to face the game’s first boss, with progression carrying over between runs through unlockable weapons, upgrades, and cosmetic items. While the demo is currently solo-only, the full release will support local couch co-op.
A Hero for the Office Realm
In Box Knight, the ordinary office has become a hazardous landscape where corrupted coworkers roam and corporate corruption reigns. By day, you’re a typical office worker. By 5 PM, you become the Box Knight, fending off bizarre enemies while climbing the office tower, clearing desks and boardrooms, and ultimately confronting the nefarious CEO.
The game’s comic-book art style brings this absurd office world to life, from grotesque coworkers to chaotic cubicles, giving players a bold, visually striking backdrop for strategic side-scrolling combat.
Key Features at a Glance
Fast, Tactical Combat: Classic brawler-inspired gameplay focused on timing, positioning, and clever attacks.
Adapt to Survive: Enemies vary wildly—some explode, others require specific attack methods, making each run unpredictable.
Roguelike Progression: Permanent upgrades and new weapons are earned between runs, strengthening your Box Knight.
Couch Co-op: Full release will allow cooperative gameplay, though the demo is currently solo.
Customization: Unlock weapons, costumes, and cosmetics to craft your ideal corporate crusader.
Box Knight blends the irreverent humor of The Office with the roguelike chaos of Hades, all wrapped in a bold, comic-book style reminiscent of South Park’s playful irreverence.
