Bethesda Softworks Surprises Players with Fallout 76 Steel Dawn Early Release

The Brotherhood of Steel return Appalachia with the free content update, Fallout 76: Steel Dawn. Originally scheduled for release on December 1, Steel Dawn releases one week early on November 24.

What started out as “an error that allowed Xbox players to download Steel Dawn ahead of schedule” became an early gift for Fallout 76 players across all platforms. Though Xbox players could download the update, it prevented them from being able to play the game. After investigating the issue, Bethesda Games Studio decided that Steel Dawn was ready for release.

Players will be able to jump right into the Steel Dawn questline, access new rewards, and experience the new C.A.M.P. Shelter. Here are the sizes of the Steel Dawn patch on each platform:

  • PC (Bethesda.net): 8.3 GB

  • PC (Microsoft Store): 16.4 GB

  • PC (Steam): 8.8 GB

  • PlayStation 4: 15.2 GB

  • Xbox One: 16.0 GB
