Apex Legends Season 3 Meltdown is bringing new Legend, Crypto, to a new battlefield. Crypto is our resident badass hacker, and it looks like he’ll be specializing in EMPs and drones. While we don’t have all the information about his kit or background but from his cinematic, it looks like he had discovered a way to hack the Apex games and was instantly framed into a criminal by other hackers who abducted his partner. Dexerto was also able to fill in a few blanks about Crypto’s background.

Over the course of the past few days, Crypto has been attempting to hack into Apex’s Legends Twitter. On September 24th, a letter was posted that glitches and reveals a hidden message. The message is as follows:

“As I’m sure you’ve heard, I took your advice and I went to the games. It’s the only way to get close to the people who framed me. All I had to do was distract the Syndicate long enough to get ‘Crypto’s’ credentials into the system. You were right about the qualifying matches. I looked into it, and there’s no way I could have gotten in. So I went with Plan B: I took down the Repulser tower. I had no idea it would be so insane. I’m hoping my company was enough to close King’s Canyon, so I can hitch a ride on the dropship off Solace and find the evidence I need somewhere in New Dawn.

I just hope I see you one last time, and I don’t get blown up before I go off-planet. (Sorry. Paranoia leads to gallows humor.) Thank you for always being the mom I needed. I’ll be in touch. Try not to worry too much. What’s that you always say? It’s hard to be scared when you’re prepared.

-TJ”

This message heavily suggested that we would be getting a new off-world map, and when Crypto finally succeeded his hack on September 25th and decrypted a file, he posted it to the official Apex Legends Twitter. The file was a space elevator from Titanfall 2, hinting again at the possibility of an off-world map. All these hints were confirmed yesterday when Apex Legends dropped the Season 3 trailer, showing off a brand new map, World’s Edge, where “molten heat and chemical ice collide”. We also get a glimpse of the Legends hanging out on the dropship, then we see snippets of the map as we watch the Legends take part in the Apex Games on planet Talos.

As of last night, Apex Legends official Twitter posted another teaser for Meltdown which shows off more of the map, a brand new weapon, a sick Legendary Lifeline skin where she looks like a demon, and a quick look at a Crypto skin while we see him entering a room of epic tiered loot. While the last map brought dragons, it looks like World’s Edge will bring drones that can be shot down for loot or a key to the special room we see Crypto entering. There will be a lot to learn about the new map and we’ll be there with you every step of the way, filling you in as we get information about Meltdown and World’s Edge.

Also coming in hot with Meltdown is the new Apex Legends Battle Pass that will have “over 100 exclusive items including Legendary skins, Apex Packs, new Battle Pass content making a Season 3 debut” just to name a few things.

Keep up to date on the latest Apex Legends News here on Ge’NeL as we anxiously await the release of Crypto’s abilities. What do you think of the new map? Do you like the storyline that Apex is weaving with their events and seasons? Let us know down below or on Twitter!
