AOC AGK 700 Gaming Keyboard Review

AOC continues its journey into the gaming industry with the Agon AGK700 gaming keyboard with wrist rest. With so many gaming keyboards available, it’s hard to find one that stands out, this one does.

The AGK 700 is AOC’s flagship, high-end gaming keyboard. But does it stand out in just appearance or is it really a good gaming keyboard?

First Impression of the AOC AGK 700 Gaming Keyboard

AOC’s AGK 700 looks anything but boring. It is, however, a bit on the bulky side. It not only takes on an industrial look, but it’s a bit heavier than most gaming keyboards. Its braided USB cable is thick and has a dual connection for some reason.

AOC likes to add red accents to their gaming peripherals like their gaming monitor. The AGK 700 is no different. It has a metallic red volume dial that’s oddly placed but still seems just right. The braided cord is also red and black. It also has a convenient USB port on the backside of the keyboard to allow the connection of additional gear. But it’s only one port.

The AGK 700 has 108 keys and 13 buttons. The extra buttons and keys present more like filler keys than useful. Aside from dedicated media keys, the extra keys aren’t necessary. Though, they could be helpful for MMO players.

It has Cherry MX Blue switches, which are clicky, so they are loud. If you have your own space and don’t mind the noise, then this wouldn’t bother you much.

When it comes to gaming peripherals, I’m all about quality, functionality, and aesthetics without sacrificing anything. And, although it’s bulky, the Agon 700 looks good. This gaming keyboard looks great with an all-black setup or a black setup with red accents. It also looks decent on a light wood surface with the right RGB setup, like the FlexiSpot Kana Pro Bamboo Standing Desk.

Possible Issues with AOC AGK700

Space. You will need a large desk, especially when you factor in the wrist wrest that’s included. The leatherette wrist wrest is comfortable, but it’s bigger than average. So, in addition to the already large keyboard, the 2.2 in. wrist wrest will hog up even more space.

The AOC G-Tools software for keyboard configuration seems straightforward. However, the configuration doesn’t allow more than the existing five profile slots. That means if gamers want to customize their keyboard to fit specific games, their experience will be limited. Also, I was a bit annoyed that, with the presets, the media buttons stayed red, which made the overall look odd and not appealing.

Final Thoughts

The AGK 700 gaming keyboard is a stylish and functional piece of equipment. The additional USB port is so handy. The black brushed aluminum surface with the red, aluminum brushed volume dial makes for an industrial and adult gaming style.

If you have the desk space and budget, this gaming keyboard is a pretty decent option. However, it doesn’t stand out from other high-end keyboards as much as we’d like.
